Christopher Franke's adaptation of James Redfield's best-selling book The Celestine Prophecy is layered with worldbeat flourishes, drawing from all manners of Eastern and ancient musics. Franke layers rhythms and sonic textures, from African percussion to sampled pianos and high falsetto vocals. By and large, the soundscapes are evocative, even if they aren't necessarily evocative of the book itself. Nevertheless, The Celestine Prophecy is yet another impressive work from one of the most gifted and adventerous new age composers of the '80s and '90s. ~ Rodney Batdorf, All Music Guide

For years Jai Uttal has occupied a special place in the vanguard of the world music movement, delighting an international audience by embracing an extraordinary variety of cultures and musical traditions ranging from Appalachia to the rock of the 1960s to the Kirtan chants of ancient India. With Mondo Rama, his new release on Narada/Virgin, he breaks still new ground, pushing the boundaries of contemporary world fusion and yet offering his most accessible music to date-an infectious blend that aims Uttal right at a pop mainstream audience.

"This album holds a special place in my heart. Even though it was done about five years ago, I am amazed how much I still like it. (Generally you always think the newer ones are better) I still get so many people say this is their favorite. Including my mom, whose opinion carries much weight. I had a broken heart when I wrote this record. I had lost a lot at the time, I had been in a partnership with another flute player, we were called "Celestial Winds" he ended up getting carried away by the money we were making.. and it ended our duo, and he took off with the books and the money. Took the music I wrote, took the credit.. blah blah, long story short.. it was the end of an era.. So this record was about picking up and carrying on.. with the little resources I had, it ended up being so genuine heart space / bittersweet / didn't have a plan / but had all this music in my head. Its very mellow too, like "Love & Peace" but a bit more Celtic sounding in places. There are some other instruments too, very softly done, like dulcimer, cello, some guitar. My friend Susan Winsberg played the recorders on this one. She bravely traipsed all around the country playing malls with me in the dead of winter. She was a great sport during the time I was getting back on my feet. I did a cover song from one of my favorite groups "Heart" called "Just the Wine" I ended up meeting Nancy Wilson from "Heart", in Hollywood one day. I have admired her for my whole growing up time...She is legendary in my mind, and was so cool, showing me all her guitars...I thought I was dreaming...I worked up the nerve and gave her "Moonsongs" and I was nervous because I had done one of her songs on it. She said she would use Moonsongs with her husband Cameron Crowe, (movie guy) and they would use it to try to get pregnant.. I nearly fainted. All the records I've done, and my mom still says this is her favorite for taking a bath."

With Reiki Healing Journey, like with his other records Healing Massage, Colour Healing, and Crystals, Llewellyn has created a masterful and timbrally rich recording. The tracks that make up this recording run together to create a rich and sonorous aural tapestry that brings a sense of inner peace and well being. This recording features 20 tracks, each of which come in at about three minutes. Llewellyn's Reiki Healing Journey is meant to guide both reiki practitioners and their recipients through a truly powerful, healing experience. The 60-minute length of this CD also makes it great for massage therapy and all other healing modalities, even yoga and tai chi. Llewellyn's Reiki Healing Journey may be great for healing practitioners but it's also an excellent recording to just sit and listen to. Fans of Enya and, more broadly, the space music genre will certainly enjoy this recording. Ultimately though, Llewellyn's Reiki Healing Journey is a new age recording. And it's quite possibly one of the finest new age recordings out there, sure to become a classic. This is an excellent recording, and one that certainly deserves a high critical rating. ~ Matt Borghi, All Music Guide

Steven Halpern - Nurturing Your Inner Child
The music is profoundly relaxing. Halpern layers and loops acoustics and electronics to generate deep overtones. The soothing atmospheres enter the synapses and fire the serotonin receptors. The gentle subliminal messages remind listeners to heal themselves and to love their inner children. Such experiences allow listeners to recover through a mode of rebirth. ~ Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide

Arguably Halpern's most artistically accomplished album, Higher Ground mixes his trademark sounds of the past with some new directions, particularly a more skillful use of synthesizers. For those interested in Halpern's latest therapeutic developments, there's an added benefit: the composer has included what he calls "binaural beat phrasing" to the music, which he says "sonically entrains your brain to an immediate 8-cycles per second response" that locks you "into phase with the natural harmonics of the Earth." Linda Kohanov, All Music Guide
This collaboration between healing-music artist Steven Halpern and harpist Georgia Kelly is a pleasant exercise in aimless musings that relax the soul and clear the mind. Halpern, long recognized for his educational work with New Age music, brings a starry Rhodes electric piano and synth to Kelly's swirling, gentle harp as the two try to recreate the ancient ritual of spiritual healing through music. While Halpern's electric piano may be a bit too drippy-dreamy, his synth is expansive and forms a soulful background for Kelly's plucking. "The Oracle at Delphi" stands out for its droning effect and hint of Muslim chant while "From Eleusis" attracts with a melodious flute sound. Halpern and Kelly create a relaxed atmosphere that, in the hands of these two experienced New Age artists, is enchanting. --Karen K. Hugg
